Even though the whole feel of the weddings is changing in India and the rituals are getting interchanged in their expression through different religions, cultures and modernization, the significance of these rituals still prevail strongly. Though there would be some cultural differences according to the religion and social groups, there are certain common rituals which remain through out the differing culture. These rites traditionally have beautiful meanings and positive vibrations which are felt while performing them. A marriage signifies the coming together of two individuals. It is a bond not only between two individuals but also between two souls, two families. Indian culture displays a strong tie of families and friends which comes together to celebrate the occasion. The marriage ceremony includes various pre wedding and wedding functions. Most of these functions take place mostly at the bride`s place and some at the groom`s place.
The main wedding ceremony usually takes place at the bride`s home. On the main day of the function a mandap is erected and the interior is beautifully decorated with flowers, colorful personal adornment, and decorative items. Indian wedding is all about fun and feast. The families and friends treat the bride and the groom royally, it`s a norm in Indian wedding that more the number attendees, more is the number of blessings for the joining the bride and groom in an eternal bond of love and commitment. The Pre wedding ceremonies shower all the love for the bride as she spends her last few days with her family, the wedding ceremony brings in promises of love and loyalty between the bride and the groom, the post wedding rituals welcome the bride lovingly in her new family, in her man`s life, introduce her with their customs and way of life and invite her warmly to be a part of them for ever.
