 Indian cities are a mirror of the mixed culture that prevails in this country. In the cities most families are nuclear in nature, but we also see them visiting their extended families often on the festival days and other special occasions. Though these families appear modern in their lookout and behavior they follow cultural rituals religiously. Quite a few families are a result of mixed marriages between castes and religions as well. Due to this change in the view, ceremonies and celebration styles also have got mixed up. Marriages in cities are following a more glamorous, glassy look to its presentations. Also even if we see the urban people coming across as modern community, the evil of dowry still prevails in indirect forms. However, this custom is diminishing at least from the city life slowly. With more and more inter caste marriages taking place, more and more rituals are getting mixed and hence the presentations are changing. With newer trends and modern touch to the marriage presentations, these ceremonies are getting more and more commercialized. A complete outsourced marriage is the most common trend that we can observe in Indian cities. Event management companies take over all the preparations to the marriage day performance from the families. This is also due to lack of time and manpower in the city life. Hence though the celebrations are getting expensive, from the families` point of view the celebrations are getting convenient due to the outsourcing getting a part of the customs.
