Make up for the dream day
Make up for the dream dayMarriage is the most special occasion in a woman`s life, and the bride wants to be her glowing best.

You`ve got the best of dresses for your trousseau, the jewellery is in proper contrast with the wedding dress and the accessories are also perfect. But what about the makeup! The traditional look is the best bet for the bride and never goes out of season. An Indian wedding has more than one occasion, and for the pheras, the traditional look is the best.

Tips for the brides

Go in for a prior consultation with your beautician at least a week before the wedding. Take along your wedding outfit and the jewellery you will be wearing. Reference always helps the make up professionals to get the look right.

Colour coordination of the make-up along with hair and jewellery is must.

Do get a reputed beautician and hairstylist. No point in settling for a budget beautician when the look of an entire lifetime is at stake.

The first thing to do is the base. A well-applied base can even-out your complexion, cover spots and pigmentation and conceal dark circles. Use a yellow-based concealer for heavy-duty coverage. Do use your base as a method of contouring your face, with the help of darker and lighter shadowing. You can create the illusion of a perfect oval face; you can make your nose look perfect and your chin a little less dominating if you use base and contouring well.

On your wedding day, a very clean and natural look is suggested for today`s bride. One of the best ways to achieve this look is to know your skin type. It is important to use the correct foundation for your skin type and color. If you have oily skin, choose a water-based matte foundation that will not add unwanted oil to your skin. If you have dry skin, then a fluid foundation may benefit your skin with its added oils.

Your foundation should blend in with your natural skin tone. Once you have applied the foundation, you may want to check the color in the sunlight because other types of lighting may affect appearances. You will know that you have a good match with your skin color if the foundation on your jaw line matches your neck.

To get your makeup to last throughout the busy day and look good in photos, it is important to use powder. Not only will powder "set" the makeup giving it a longer lasting effect, but it also helps in reducing unwanted shine. You may want to reapply powder throughout the day.

Your wedding is an emotional day, so everything you put on your face (especially mascara) should be waterproof and smudge-proof. It is important to have a fresh tube of mascara on your wedding day because older mascara has a tendency to clump.

Your wedding day will see you be the centre of attention for the entire day. Everyone will be looking at you so you want to look your best. From putting on the veil, kissing your husband and dancing, your makeup will be disturbed. As your make-up plays an important role in complimenting your features, gown and accessories, it is important to try looking your best.

To ensure that your makeup looks fantastic, use a professional make up artist. Make sure you have a trial a few months before your wedding day.

Skin

  • Your skin is the basis for your wedding day makeup as this is where it all begins. Make sure you drink plenty of water and stay out of the sun in the weeks leading up the wedding.

  • If you do not already use lip balm and moisturizer, now is the time to start. These items will help to keep your skin refreshed. Lip balm will moisturize your lips, which is helpful because color fades unevenly on dry lips.

  • For brides with oily skin, be sure to avoid any harsh skin treatments as these can actually increase the amount of oil in your skin. A better alternative is to being a skin care routine with cleansers and balancers made specifically for your skin type.

  • Do not be afraid to experiment with makeup in the months leading up to the wedding. You should aim to have your makeup choices made at least a month before the wedding so that you can be sure you do not have nasty reactions to new products.

  • Get your last regular facial a week before the wedding. If you rarely have facials, do not get one within a month of the wedding.
  • Base

Now that your skin is looking fantastic, you will want a flawless complexion:

  • It is a good idea to apply some moisturizer about twenty minutes before you start to apply your makeup. This will help to reduce slide.

  • Use some concealed underneath your eyes. If you anticipate that, you will be doing some crying, look for an oil-based concealer.

  • If your usual foundation wears away easily, try to find a formula with a little oil in it as this will help. Complete your foundation with face powder.

  • Cheeks

For a blushing bride look that does not disappear and fizzle out during the ceremony, use a powder-based blush because they will usually last longer than cream blushes.

    Eyes

  • Keep your eyes looking fantastic on your wedding day with the tips below?

  • Do not ever pluck or wax brows the day of the wedding. There is always the chance overdoing it and you could develop red rashes.

  • A good effect is to use eye shadow primer before putting on the eye color and apply a neutral shadow over the eye. This will give you a softer more natural look. Prep your eyelids with an eye shadow base or a little face powder. Use an off-white pencil inside the lower rims of the eyes to brighten them .

  • Apply two coats of waterproof mascara. Let each coat dry for a few seconds before applying the next layer. If you are going to cry a lot, leave your lower lashes clean and you will reduce the smudging.

  • Another idea you might like to try is an eyelash perm. They will last for about nine weeks.
  • Lips

If there is one thing you can rely on, it is that you will be doing a lot of kissing on your wedding day. This means you will need a lip color that will last. For a long lasting, kissable look, try the hints below.

  • Be sure to use a color that looks good with your hair and eye color and use lip liner in the same color family. First, outline your lips, and then fill them in for an extra layer of color. Use a matte or longwearing lipstick because you do not want to be constantly reapplying your makeup during the day.

  • Layer lip products, such as primer, balm, or lacquer to help to make the lipstick stay on .

  • Always brush your teeth before hand to ensure clean, fresh teeth.

  • Apply your lipstick with a lip brush. First one layer of lipstick, blots with a tissue, and apply the second layer.

  • Be sure to have makeup remover ready for mistakes. You all know that lippy does not just wipe off. Especially not, off that beautiful white gown!

  • Every bride has lots of things to think about when she`s planning her wedding, but so many tend to forget about taking care of themselves on the day of their wedding. And it`s important that those small, but mighty, details not escape even the most well prepared bride!

What should be at the TOP of every bride`s list on the day of her wedding is to relax and enjoy it! Whether you`ve been working with a wedding consultant or have done all the planning and preparation on your own, it`s now the big day and you deserve to have at least as much fun as any of your guests.

Here are a few simple, but practical tips to help pave the way to truly enjoying your wedding day:

    1. Making Up is (not) hard to Do - Create a Wedding Day Make-Up Bag

Two weeks before the wedding, do a complete test of your wedding-day look (make-up, hairdo and shoes) - for as long as you expect to have it together that day so you`ll know if it will "go the distance." Put together a little make-up bag for touch ups that you can take along with you the day of the wedding to keep you looking your best. And on the big day, have a friend, bridesmaid or family member hang on to it or stash it somewhere handy so you can get to it when you need it. Be sure to use waterproof mascara, and don`t forget to pack the hairspray!

Hint: When purchasing your make-up, see if you can persuade the sales gal at the cosmetic counter into giving you samples of everything you`re buying (they`ve got `em, you know they do) They won`t take up much room and it will be more than enough for the day!

    2. Wedding Day "Emergency" Kit - Create an Emergency Kit For Those Unexpected Emergencies

Just like the back-up, make-up bag for touch ups (say that three times fast!), consider an "emergency kit" filled with items you may need on your wedding day. Fill a small bag with items such as a travel size sewing kit (you`d be amazed at the magic tricks just one safety pin can perform), clear nail polish (for panty hose/stocking runs), an extra set of panty hose or stockings, throat lozenges and aspirin. Other ideas for the "emergency kit" include tissues, breath mints, tampons, hand cream and band-aids.

    3. Food for Thought - Start Your Wedding Day With Healthy & Filling Nourishment

Since most brides don`t get to enjoy the meal served at the reception, you really should consider having something to eat before the wedding, no matter how worried you are about how the dress fits!

While food may be the last thing on your mind on your wedding day, it`s nonetheless important that you start the day with some healthy and filling nourishment. It`s going to be a long (and wonderful) day and you`ll want to have plenty of energy so you can keep dancing and socializing for hours!

    4. If the Shoe Fits - Kick Off The Heels & Settle Into a More Comfortable Shoe

You know those stunning, sexy, strappy, ultra-high heels that work perfectly with your wedding gown? They`ll be great for the ceremony and for the formal pictures, but if you`re planning to kick up your heels at the reception, you`ll be better off kicking off the heels and settling into something more comfortable. So get a pretty, more practical pair of shoes that you can change into to keep your dogs from "barking" the entire week after the wedding!
