The best reason for a honeymoon is for the rest and relaxation. The rigors of wedding planning are one of the most stressful events in your life. The peace of mind that you will enjoy is worth every penny. A honeymoon is an important part of your wedding. You will need to rest and relax after all the planning that has gone into your wedding day.
Do not treat your honeymoon like a vacation; it is a time unlike any other. You are starting life as husband and wife, not merely living together. This is your time to bond, set out in a new direction, and renew your romance.
You have decided where and when to hold the wedding ceremony and party, bought that special wedding dress and made arrangements with the caterers. But have you decided on where to spend your honeymoon? After all the exhausting preparation and a day of ceremony and celebrations, the bride and groom are ready to get away from it all and spent some time alone together. This is one of the first activities the bride and groom will do as a married couple and the memories will surely last a lifetime. Many people suggest going someplace unusual. This will set your honeymoon vacation apart from all the other trips that you will go on in the future. Pick someplace that you will find memorable and unique, possibly a place neither of you has gone before. Honeymoons should be relaxing and a time to have fun. You have to take into account the preferences of the groom and the bride in order to find an ideal location that both people will be happy with. Plan the honeymoon together! This vacation should reflect both of your tastes. You also want to make sure you are spending an acceptable amount of money on the honeymoon (don`t go overboard!). If possible, book a really nice room for your honeymoon. You should really set this vacation above the rest of them.
When you first arrive at your honeymoon destination, take some time to talk with each other. Very often the bride and groom and pulled apart to socialize during the wedding reception and there may be some interesting stories to share with each other. Also, this may be a nice time to discuss the pre-wedding jitters or things that didn`t go as planned that you now find funny. Site seeing and sitting on the beach can wait a little while.
The honeymoon is a significant expense in itself. The cost will depend on your expectations, but most people like to make it a bit more special than your average package holiday. If you want something special, you have to be prepared to pay that bit extra.
If you think of your honeymoon as part of the overall cost of the wedding, this will give you a realistic picture of what it will all cost you. If you normally take a holiday every year, you`ll have a good idea of what it takes to save for it.
The honeymoon hasn`t always been the post-wedding vacation as we know it today. The word actually originated in northern Europe from a tradition involving wine made from mead and honey. The newlywed couple drank this bittersweet wine, called metheglen, for a month after the wedding to bring them good luck in the marriage.
Since a month was known as a "moon," this period of time acquired the name honeymoon. The first wedding honeymoon in which a couple traveled occurred during the bride-by-capture era. The groom would capture his bride and go into hiding for about a month. Very often family and friends of the captured bride would go out looking for her to bring her home. It was the husband`s hope that the bride would be pregnant by the time her family would find her. This honeymoon wasn`t the fun vacation it is today.
In the 16th century the honeymoon turned into a very romantic event for the couple. Later, during the Victorian era, the honeymoon became an expected part of the wedding celebration that the groom and his family would pay for. During this era, the bride and groom were kept apart from each other during their wedding engagement and the wedding honeymoon was a time for the newlywed couple to go away and get to know each other.
You are so fortunate to have found one another. Now that you have met your soul mate, you are ready to exchange vows of eternal love and commitment and seal them with a kiss. Soon after the Wedding Day jitters are over, the time to enjoy your lifetime`s most special trip will finally be there.
The whole idea of a honeymoon is not only that we are able to unwind from a long, tiresome wedding planning process, but also so that we can celebrate and cherish our first days together as husband and wife. The honeymoon is the time that bridges the gap between unmarried and married. It is one of the most wonderful times of a married couple`s lives.
Your Honeymoon! That pot of golden sand at the end of the rainbow, that moment you`ve looked forward to for months, that trip that you and you new spouse wholeheartedly deserve.
