Structuralism
Ferdinand de Saussure is the originator of the 20th century reappearance of structuralism. Evidence of this can be found in course in general linguistics written by his colleagues after his death where he focussed on the underlying system of language. Structuralism, literary criticism argues that the novelty value of literary text can be only in new structuralism, rather than in specifics of character development and voice in which structuralism is expressed. Today structuralism is less popular than approaches such as post structuralism was seen a historically important school thought but it was overshadowed by deconstruction.

Deconstruction was coined by French philosopher Derrida in 1960 and used in contemporary humanities and social sciences to devout philosophers of meaning that deals with the ways that meaning is constructed by writers, texts and readers. It involves understanding the unspoken and implicit ideas that form the basis of thought and belief. The term deconstruction in the context of Western philosophy is highly resistant to a formal definition whether it is a method of reading or a school of thought. Deconstruction is the subject of at least 3 main types of criticism namely lack of usefulness, meaningless and lacking in transparency. Deconstructive analysis is little more than a form of relativism.
